Hip – Hip Labrum Tear



Presentation
Symptoms and signs:
- Pain in groin area
- Antalgic gait
Clinical examination:
- Hip pain with range of motion
Investigations:
- MRI: labrum tear and it will also assess cartilage damage


Management
Conservative treatment:
Pain control: NSAIDs
Hip strength and conditioning
Surgery:
- Hip arthroscopic labral repair.
- Address hip dysplasia and femoroacetabular dysplasia. Shelf arthroplasty and pelvic osteotomy to address hip dysplasia and certain dysplastic hips. Open femoroplasty and acetabuloplasty for femoroactabular impingement followed with hip arthroscopy to address the impingement component.

Hip arthroscopy
Surgery to address underlying bony abnormality with arthroscopic debridement and labral repair.
