ITB syndrome

ITB syndrome is inflammation of the ITB at the distal lateral aspect of the femur condyle
Symptoms:

  • Lateral knee pain
  • Pain aggravated by sudden increase in activity levels
  • Occasionally clicking

ITB Syndrome management

  • Analgesia
  • Rehabilitation: ITB stretching and muscle strengthening including hip abductors
  • Topical steroid injection where clinically indicated
  • Definitive management is ITB release when clinically indicated
