Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is compression of the Median nerve at the wrist area by the flexor retinaculum.
Aggravating factors include:
- Pregnancy
- Hormonal imbalance disorders like Hypothyroidism
- Extreme wrist motions with increased force across the wrist like hammering and vibration activities
- Haemodialyis
- Alcoholism
- Fractures around wrist area
- Any mass in the carpal tunnel
Symptoms:
- Wrist pain
- Tingling in thumb, index and middle fingers
- Difficulty using hand for grasping tasks
- Hand weakness
