Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is compression of the Median nerve at the wrist area by the flexor retinaculum.

Aggravating factors include:
  • Pregnancy
  • Hormonal imbalance disorders like Hypothyroidism
  • Extreme wrist motions with increased force across the wrist like hammering and vibration activities
  • Haemodialyis
  • Alcoholism
  • Fractures around wrist area
  • Any mass in the carpal tunnel
Symptoms:
  • Wrist pain
  • Tingling in thumb, index and middle fingers
  • Difficulty using hand for grasping tasks
  • Hand weakness
